Electrical Permit

Steps to Obtain an Electrical Permit:

  1. First you must meet all requirements of Grimes County. If the county requires a permit, you must obtain this first.
  2. Once you have met all Grimes County requirements for establishing electricity, the following city requirements must be met:
  3. A copy of your Permit from Grimes County (if required), must be submitted to the city at the time of your application.
  4. A plot plan with the location of your power source is required.
  5. Your electrical plans will be inspected by the City Inspector. If you plans meet the code requirements a city permit will the be issued.

*** ENERGY CONSERVATION CODE 2009 COMPLIANCE REQUIRED: ATTACH COMPLIANCE FORMS ***

  • Electrical material used will be of the approved type.
  • Electrical work shall be in accordance with the city ordinance & the latest adopted edition of the National Electrical Code Book.
  • No alterations or additions shall be made in the electrical system without written permission from the city.

You must fill out all of the information on the city application form and submit the permit fees.
