Septic Permit
Steps to obtain a Septic Permit:
- A permit to construct must be obtained from Grimes County.
- Once you have a Permit to Construct from Grimes County, you may apply for a City Septic Permit. However the following city requirements must be met:
- A copy of your Permit to Construct from Grimes County must be submitted to the city at the time of your application.
- You must submit 2 sets of site plans with your application.
- You must have 1 1/2 acres for your field line.
- Your septic system must be over 500 feet or more from any water well.
- It is possible to obtain a waiver for special circumstances. However, an application for a waiver must be submitted in writing.
Fees are as follows:
$100.00 Permit Fee
$100.00 Processing Fee
$100.00 Final Inspection Fee
If your septic system plans are approved, you will be issued a Septic Permit. Your Septic Permit is valid for one (1) year from the date it is issued.
If a Final Inspection is not done within a year from the date your permit was issued, you will need to apply for a new Permit.
