Steps to Obtaining a Sign Permit:
- First you must meet all requirements of Grimes County, if they require a permit, you must obtain this first.
- Once you have met all Grimes Co. requirements for placement of your sign, the following city requirements must be met:
- You will need to submit a site plan showing property lines and dimension from property line to sign.
- You will need submit plans and elevation of the proposed sign with dimensions.
- Engineering drawings may be required.
- Sign permits are valid for one year.
Your Sign will be inspected by the City Inspector. If your Sign is constructed according to the approved plans, a city permit will be issued.
FEES:
Suspended Sign: $25.00
Wall Sign < 160 sq. ft.: $35.00
Wall Sign > 160 sq. ft.: $50.00
Ground Sign < 160 sq. ft.: $50.00
Ground Sign > 160 sq. ft.: $75.00
Multi Tenant Sign: $100.00
Pole Sign over 40ft.: $150.00
Inspection Fee for Electric Signs: $35.00
Inspection Fee for Non Electric Signs: $10.00

Steps to Obtaining a Temporary Sign Permit:
- Temporary signs shall be displayed for a period of 60 days or less.
- A total of two (2) temporary signs may be permitted for each business frontage.
- If wall mounted, any temporary sign will count toward the 60 percent maximum coverasge limit.
- If attached to the ground, the sign shall not exceed ten square feet in area.
- Any sign which the sign face altered, or replaced must apply for a new permit
You must fill out and submit a Temporary Sign Permit Application.
You must submit a site plan with your Application.
A Temporary Sign Permit is valid for sixty (60) days from the date you indicate on your application.

$25.00 for 60 days

Steps to Obtaining a Grand Opening Sign Permit:
You must fill out a Grand Opening Sign Permit Application.
You must submit a site plan with your Application.
Grand Opening Signs shall be displayed for a period not to exceed 45 days.

$25.00 for 45 days
